I've never seen the strip so empty. It's almost an eerie feeling. But it does make it much quicker to get from one end to the other.
Vegas Baby!
Have you checked out the new Resorts World? I have! It's huge and beautiful. There is a Famous Street Foods, food court, you can order from several different restaurants on a single kiosk, then you receive a text when your food is ready and just go pick it up at the restaurants. I tried the Spicy Tuna Roll from Nori Bar and Guo Tie Pork and Shrimp dumplings and Sheng Jian Bao from Ah Chun. Nothing disappointed.
Of course I made a stop at the Oyster Bar in the Palace Station. I can't believe me good luck, only stood in line for about 5 minutes. Went with the Combo Pan Fry, level 8 spicy. Bob served it up delicious as always.
The holidays is one of my absolute favorite times of year to visit Las Vegas. There is no shortage of holiday decor and cheer as you walk through your favorite hotel and casino. My all time favorite is the Conservatory at the Bellagio. The details they put into the display every season is amazing. I always try and go see it more than once, you catch so many more amazing things each time you see it.
Another one up there on my list is the Wynn. They also like to incorporate fresh flowers and live plants into their displays. I didn't know there were orange poinsettias before seeing their display. They also include so many cool details in everything.
The Flamingo habitat also does a fun display, with their palm trees wrapped in pink lights, and the flamingos in the fountain wearing wreaths around their necks. My only complaint is that the live flamingos didn't have any antlers!
There was just so much cheer to be seen. I loved exploring to find new ones I hadn't seen before. Like the fun trees at the crystal shops on the way to the Aria, the cute restaurant decorations in New York New York and so much more.
Sometimes the Best Adventure is in your back yard - Memorial Day Weekend 2021
Family trips are my favorite kind. I love traveling with my sisters for relaxed getaways, and camping with my kids and grand kids to unwind at the end of a long work week, or month. I am also a big fan of traditions. This was our 4th memorial day weekend we went on a family camping trip to kick off the start of the season. We could not have had better weather. The fishing was great and everyone enjoyed the water.
The girls got to use there paddle boards. No one fell in.
The kids got to take the kayaks out for a spin in the swimming hole.
Everyone got a turn fishing on the boat.
The best part is, we were joined by friends that are family. It was great to catch up and relax by the fire, with cornhole and great food.
Let me know if you would like camp site recommendations!
Lincoln City Adventure - April 2021
April 9, 2021
I was invited to join my daughter and grandson for a weekend at the beach. I told her I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. Last night my grandson spent the night and when she came to pick him up my bag was packed and I was ready to go!
Since she had to work before we left, we got a late start. Traffic wasn't great, and the GPS took us on a weird non-freeway drive with lots of stop lights that we hit red. The kid slept the entire drive and it was nice to catch up.

We stayed at Siltez Bay Lodge, in old town Lincoln City. It had been years since I had been there, it was a trip me and my sisters often made with my mom. The location of the lodge was great, right on the beach and right next to Mo's. The staff wasn't overly friendly but they were helpful.
i love mo's
By the time we checked in and got settled, we were set for a late dinner. Since we were right next to one of the best chowder places on earth we had to indulge. My tech savvy daughter placed our order online for pickup. Since we are currently at 25% inside capacity and it is spring break.
I would absolutely recommend Mo's whenever you are near one. The chowder is amazing and the kid loved the cheese burger.
An evening walk on the beach and some writing in the sand rounded out the evening.

It's nice traveling with people who wake up the same time as you. It was a cold and rainy morning, but we had warm coffee and cereal.
From our room you can see the bay, filled with seals, and Taft Dock. Taft Dock was a shipping dock (this area of waterfront is known as Taft Waterfront) in the 1920s. There are rumors of a phantom or ghost ship that can be seen just outside the bay on foggy mornings, we didn't see it. (Fun read here https://www.beachconnection.net/news/ghost_siletz061420.php)
When we first started out on the beach this morning, it was pretty calm, just a bit cold so we bundled up. As we got closer to the ocean, the wind really picked up, it was cold enough to cut through you. It was nice and peaceful, not many people out yet. We found shells and sea glass. On our way back we walked through town. Not much was open.
We attempted to have lunch at Rusty Truck Brewing, but the service was so slow we didn't even get to try their beer. Luckily my daughter was prepared and we had the makings for lunch back at the hotel. The kid ate the rest of his cheese burger from dinner and we had salad and wraps. After a little relaxing and warming up, we headed back out to the beach since the sun was coming out.

One more morning walk, with much nicer weather, before we head home. It was a great relaxing weekend and nice to get away. Our new favorite thing to do at the beach is run away from the incoming tide. The giggles and excitement of seeing the ocean, building sand castles, and running from waves with a 7 year old will not soon be forgotten.
Las Vegas Adventure - March 2021
March 5, 2021
Today, I got on an airplane, for the first time in 13 months.
I wasn't anxious.
I wasn't' nervous.
I was just so happy to be going somewhere, anywhere.
It was just time, time to go.
The flights were uneventful, you are however required to where your own personal mask. It is now a FEDERAL LAW.
We arrived at our destination, with no complications. We were able to do an early check in, and we could not be happier to be here.
Why do hotels have such ugly carpet?
Cheers
After a VERY early morning flight out, and a short layover we arrived. Sin City here we are!
And hot dogs!
First things first, we need food! In the courtyard by Bally's we found the most delightful hotdog place. The line was about 30 people long and we knew it had to be good! It did not disappoint. When you can check out Dirt Dogs.
Finally!
Person number 3 joined the Party
We also found a great pizza place, after an early morning flight and a lay over, we needed a food stop for our new arrival. Giordano's, is world famous for there stuffed crusted deep dish, and their pizza is worth trying. Now a brief break before party members 4, 5 and 6 get here.
The gang all made it, we rounded out the evening with In and Out, the Bellagio Conservatory, and sleep.
March 6, 2021
Everyone arrived safely yesterday and after a good night sleep we had a big day.
We started the day with coffee, luckily this is readily available where ever you look. Then some site-seeing and gambling.
Gardens at the wynn
Then a walk threw the gardens at the Wynn, so cool what they can do with flowers. They had an entire carousel made out of them. Man did it smell good
the oyster bar
At The Palace Station you can find The Oyster Bar, it is a must on my list every time I am in Las Vegas. There is nothing bad on there menu. My go to order is the gumbo, level 8 spicy and a round of the oyster bloody mary shooters. I promise you this place is worth the wait.
We scheduled tickets for the Fly LINQ zip-line for after lunch. We had time, so 4 out of the 6 of us walked back to the strip from The Place Station, it's about 1.3 miles, and very worth it after a big lunch. It was starting get a little windy, but we thought nothing of it. The directions on our ticket were a little confusing, but we ended up in a long line at the LINQ box office. We finally got to the right side of the alley and were about 4 groups back, when we were informed the zip-line was canceled due to high wind. We figured we would just call customer service and get a refund. Oh well.
After an amazing dinner at The Cosmopolitan in the "Little Portland" district, we headed back towards our hotel. We figured we might as well give it another shot. This time they told us it was closed to kill the crowd inside. I handed him my ticket voucher and told him I had already missed it once and already paid. He looked at my voucher and said "oh you're viator, go right in". It was a long line but a short wait to get going. There are 13 lines that can go at once. They give you a bag to hold your belongings, and it's a high fly above the courtyard to the High Roller. This was my first zip-line experience, I would do it again.
I feel pretty blessed that I was able to go on a trip with my daughter, daughter in laws, and the definition of friends become family. We have always gone on girls outings, but have missed the last few years, so we decided it was time to get a new tradition going. I can't wait for our next girls trip.

Early flight out, but I got to fly first class. I was very impressed with all the COVID safety measures put into place. Not just on the airplane, but in the airports, and at the hotels, restaurants and casinos. It was nice to get away, even for a short moment and am looking forward to my next adventure.
